Every year, teens from across a three-county area gather together at the Northland Teen Institute for a training devoted to equipping high school leaders with the tools necessary to implement effective prevention programs both in their schools and communities.
Teen Institute is an adventure in leadership and substance abuse prevention education. Through small group discussion, general and mini workshop sessions and recreational events, participants have fun and experience the freedom to be accepted for who they are. Teen Institute provides a supportive environment in which high school leaders feel comfortable working together, forming trusting friendships and building the confidence to make a difference in the world.
In addition to participants receiving quality leadership and substance abuse training, they will also be actively involved in problem solving, role playing, critical thinking, and presenting. Participants will receive training on applying newly acquired knowledge and skills to real-world situations. The camp will culminate into a presentation where participants will get the opportunity to present on issues facing the community, and their schools and offering their answers to their fellow peers.
