Resources For Law Enforcement

The Beacon Mental Health (formerly Tri-County Mental Health Services) Prevention Staff enjoy working with Law Enforcement to address youth substance use. This close relationship helps us stay in-tune with what’s happening in the community and how youth behaviors are trending. Several resources are available to Law Enforcement throughout the community.

Resources From Us

  • Handle With Care improves communication between law enforcement and schools in Clay, Platte, and Ray counties. Law enforcement officers are trained to note when children are present at the scene of a call. School district personnel are trained on the impact of trauma and follow a simple protocol of notifying appropriate staff, providing additional observation and extra support. No direct action is taken with the child unless warranted.

Helpful Resources

  • Northland Safe Schools Task Force is a collaboration of local Kansas City Northland agencies working to keep our kids safe in school.
  • Alcohol Justice is an alcohol industry “watchdog” agency that promotes evidence-based public health policies and organizes campaigns with diverse communities and youth against the alcohol industry’s harmful practices.
  • Office of National Drug Control Policy provides prevention strategies, programs, tools, and resources that may be useful to law enforcement professionals.
