2012 Parent Up Event
Thursday, March 8th, 2012

Did you know the average age area youth start drinking alcohol is 12?  That’s 6th grade.  1 in 4 Smithville students reported drinking in the last 30 days and nearly half will be offered other dangerous drugs by the time they leave high school.  While this is daunting data, there is good news!  Research shows that parents have the greatest influence over their child’s decisions to drink, use drugs, or engage in risky behaviors.

Join us for a free dinner followed by an entertaining and life changing presentation about using your influence to directly improve the future of our youth.  Comedian David Naster will use true stories to convey the message that parents matter.  You will leave this presentation empowered and encouraged to expand your influence and make changes in the lives of our kids.

Babysitting will be provided.  Please contact Rae Jenkins with questions at 816-532-0589 or jenkinsr@smithville.k12.mo.us.
