The Staley Community TRY (Teaching and Reaching Youth) Coalition implements prevention programs in the Staley area of the North Kansas City School District.
In Spring 2011, Staley Community TRY members met to develop a strategic plan that will guide their programs throughout the next 2 years. Using data and prevention research, members identified the following three goals:
1. Staley community members will make healthy decisions concerning substance use.
2. The Staley community will be vested and involved in prevention efforts.
3. Staley community members will feel safe and respected throughout the schools and community.

History of TRY-
North Kansas City Teaching and Reaching Youth (TRY) was formed in 1993. The coalition encompassed community members and staff from the Kansas City School District area. In order to be more effective, Staley Community TRY was developed as a smaller coalition that targets only Staley High School and it’s feeder schools (New Mark Middle and Fox Hill, Bell Prarie, and Nashua Elementary Schools)
